onychomycosis, otherwise known as nail fungus, can be cured!

Onychomycosis, or nail fungus, is a contagious fungus of the nails most commonly invading the toenails. Not only is this nail fungus unsightly, it is contagious as well, and derives from the same fungus that causes ringworm. Onychomosis attacks the nail bed and the underneath side of the nail plate, even becoming painful in severe cases.

Symptoms of nail fungus

When a nail contracts Onychomycosis, it becomes yellowish and cloudy in appearance with a thickening of the nail. The nail becomes rough and brittle and crumbles easily. Occasionally, the nail can even detach itself from the nail bed. In general, no pain is associated with nail fungus. However, in extreme cases, some pain may be associated with the toenail fungus. Fortunately there is ways to remedy toenail fungus.

Home remedies for nail fungus

•Australian Tea Tree Oil

While not a scientifically proven method of treating onychomycosis, many use it as an alternative medicine to treat the nail fungus. Tea Tree Oil is an essential oil extracted from the leaves of the narrow-leaved Tea tree in Australia. The camphoric oil has medicinal properties including antibacterial and anti-fungal agents, as well as antiseptic properties. Tea Tree Oil for nail fungus can be obtained from natural medicine stores and is often suggested by many naturopathic doctors. Tea Tree Oil for fungus most often is mixed with a number of other essential oils thought to have medicinal properties to fight nail fungus. Often, Tea Tree Oil will be blended with Vaseline, Vics Vapo Rub, iodine, or apple cider vinegar.

•Grapefruit Seed Extract

Derived from the pulp, seeds and membrane of the grapefruit, Grapefruit Seed Extract has been argued to contain antibacterial and anti-viral properties, as well as anti-fungal agents. Often, the extract from Grapefruit is blended with Tea Tree Oil to create a natural treatment for toe nail fungus
